Alexander grinned sheepishly towards his long time friend, not knowing if he was about to be smacked or applauded by Cameron. He was still unpredictable after so many years, their friendship couldn't point them towards which reaction was common. Still, he stepped forward to greet the man and was pulled into a tight embrace, accompanied by several hard smacks against his back which were meant to be affectionate.
"You sly bastard, gettin' the girl pregnant without even telling us. When's she due?" Cameron asked, his glee more subtle than his wife's, who continued to clap and cry for Jocelyn.
"Little less than four months now, I'd say." Alexander approximated the answer, it felt about right, Doctor Freemont had yet to give him an actual date. "Never mind about that, tell me what's happened."
"They adore her, Alex." Cameron responded quickly and with a huge grin on his face. "A slave turned royal, all the little girls wanna be just like her. They're infatuated with her, can't stop talkin' about the marriage. I can't believe that, that [this], hasn't been more public."
Cameron gestured of course to Jocelyn's growing stomach. Alexander wrapped his arm around her in a loving hold, it ushered another cry from Anna, who was the most vocal about her excitement of the four.
"Cameron, did you get what I asked?" Alexander asked seriously. It was supposed to have been a secret, their whole mission, but this information was kept even from Jocelyn. Cameron brought forth a small box with a white ribbon holding it all together. If she was confused, she wouldn't have been for much longer. "Jocelyn, I asked a favor, I hope you don't mind...but you can open it another time. Really now, Cameron, how did it go? Yes, Jocelyn's pregnant, can we please move on?"
Despite the rudeness of his words they were laced with the common joking attitude between the two friends and not a single word was meant to be harsh. Alexander was laughing towards the end, the obvious jest implied in his words. He loved his wife, wanted to talk all about the baby, whether or not it'd be a boy or a girl, but they hadn't the time for pleasantries as such.
"Right." Cameron blurted. "Mate you've got a bloody army on your hands, a few of 'em called you their King. Of course, it took a little time, but her family damn sure helped. They met you before, trust you at least. If what you say is true, that you can really bring them some peace, they'd follow you anywhere."
