For a palace, their defenses weren't the best. As soon as Nari realized that Balthier wasn't going to come out until he'd had a good long chat with the Princess, added onto the fact that she'd been getting quite a few strange looks loitering outside the throne room, she did what any sane person trained by what amounts to be a ninja would do. She waited until there was no one in sight, and using the elaborate decorations hid herself above the grand entryway, lurking in the shadows beyond sight, but within range of the voices in the great hall, and suppressed herself.
It was a trick unique to her master, the Black shadow. A move he was famous for- though he had mastered it to an extent that she could not. It was more then an illusion, merely wiping all traces of sight, it was complete concealment. He could disappear in broad daylight, in the middle of a crowded street and not leave a single clue- no scent, no vision, no ears could detect him, though he still existed in the physical realm. Nari still required shadows to use the ability, but it worked out well for her all the same.
Sister...It certainly explained a lot, though it also raised quite a few questions. Why would a prince need to travel the world as a pirate? Unless neither of them was royalty, and the Princess was merely adopted into the royal family. She hadn't heard anything about it before, but she never had made an effort to keep up on the doings of her own country, let alone the intricacies of another countries government. It made sense in a strange convoluted way, but there was something just too.... Majestic about the girl if that were the case.
She ignored the small part of her that unwound finding the relationship between the pirate and the princess (Even just thinking those words together made her feel like she was naming some sappy romance novel) and instead fixed her eyes upon Balthier as he left the throne room. Should she reveal herself? It probably wasn't prudent that she had been eavesdropping, but at the same time keeping her knowledge from him felt like a betrayal of sorts. Pitted up against the Brilliant flame and his sister, she had felt like they were a two man team- just them against the world. Now, she wasn't quite sure what to think.
Could she look at him with the same objective eyes? Knowing that he had tasted both sides of the world? The kinship she had felt when she assumed shared hardship suddenly seemed false in her eyes. Unknowingly she had done him just as much of an injustice as the rest of the world, judging him for what he showed, not who he was- for all that it was due to his own deceit. She fixed her wandering eyes back on the Blonde hunter- pirate- prince? - and hopped off of the door frame with the barest of taps on the stone floor.
Balthier...Who are you, really?
