Elisa smiled at the scene before her, clapping along as the inn was filled with laughter, clapping and singing people. There were happy faces everywhere ... well almost everywhere. In the corner, she saw a little girl, around approximately 6 years old, give or take, with her legs pressed against her chest and big tears streaming down her face. She stopped clapping almost immediately before she made her way over to where she was.
"Hey ... " She said softly, carefully approaching the child with a friendly smile on her face. The little girl raised her brunette head to look at her, eyes big and red. "What's wrong? Does something hurt?" Elisa asked, and the girl shook her head. With her little hands, she wiped some tears away, sniffling.
"My doll ... " She hiccuped "I lost my doll outside, but my mommy won't let me look for her" Her voice broke at the end.
Elisa's brow arched, and she had to do her best in stopping a chuckle from espying her lips. All of that .. for a doll? Well she was little girl. She threw a glance back at the door, and made a decision surprisingly and foolishly quickly. Rain wouldn't kill her. Really, she never got sick, and that was something she was actually proud of.
"Okay, I will look for your toy. Tell me how it is"
The girl gave the most accurate description she could come up with of her doll before the blonde slipped outside. In the blink of an eye, she was already soaking wet. She felt somehow guilty about it, mostly because the knights had so kindly tried to keep them from getting wet. At least, she had left Victor's cloak with the girl. Fortunately, she didn't really have to look for the doll too long. It laid there, forgotten a couple of steps before the inn. As she grabbed it, she understood why it meant so much to the girl, it was so obviously hand-made. She brought it back to the girl and was nicely rewarded by a radiant smile and a hug.
The inn still burst with laughs and songs, though some of them were not even about the one that had started it all. She considered it wise enough, to go upstairs to one of the rooms, she could get out of the dress and hang it somewhere in hope that it'll be dry by morning. Quietly, while not wanting to disturb either Adam or Rebecca she went upstairs. Her hair and clothes were dripping wet, the former stuck to her face, while the latter to her body. And, while she squeezed the water out of her bleach blonde hair with one hand she used the other to open the room.
"Oh" She exclaimed, her brows raising in surprise "I'm sorry" She was quick to add when she realised she had opened the door to the room Victor was occupying. She had been told which were their rooms, but not where the knight was. "Wrong room" And with that, she began to back away.
Adam watched the girl with a warm smile on his face and a glass of nice ale in one hand. He didn't know exactly why, but his eyes followed her wherever she went. It was funny, actually. He tapped his free hand's fingers against one of the wooden tables as the tune was sang by almost everyone inside the inn.
If family saw him now ... only God knew what they'd do. That thought made his smile even wider. It had been so long since he had last cared for his family's opinion. Well apart from his aunt and her family, of course. He wasn't like most of his family, and though that had bothered him in the past, back then as a kid and a teenager, he was proud of it now. He didn't need them to fully accept his decisions now. At least, they sort of respected them.
"Is that a spark of love I see in your eyes, darling?" The owner's wife asked the young knight as she replaced his glass for a new one. She was an elderly woman with kind eyes and gentle smile.
"Me? For Rebecca? No, not at all" He replied with a laugh.
"Really?" Her eyes pierced right through him and she picked up the empty glass before adding, "I didn't say for who, young man" to Adam.
Adam blinked, and watched her go, dumbstruck. His hand already wrapped around his newly filled glass.
"Careful" He heard someone yell.
He turned his head to the front, and his body moved on his own. Most likely someone had, accidentally, picked the white haired lady wrongly, and she had slipped from his grip before she started to fall. Adam held out his arms and caught her before she hit the floor. He stumbled back for a moment, but was able to catch himself before falling as well. In only that split of a moment, his heart had started to pound on his chest.
"Rebecca! Are you okay?" He asked, eyes wide in concern.
"Hey ... " She said softly, carefully approaching the child with a friendly smile on her face. The little girl raised her brunette head to look at her, eyes big and red. "What's wrong?
