Adriana circled above the small crater- the location of the meeting that had been called between the dragon riders. She had heard the rumors, the tensions between the borders, blackouts in smaller cities far from any assistance. Until now though, it'd merely been a distant thing. Just talk, not something that could touch her or her family- not something she would have to worry about in the near future.
Now, it was too real for her to believe. The dragon riders were the trump cards- support, defense, assault, they were the epitome of a countries strength after the disaster that had led to the world wide banning of nuclear weapons. That they were being mobilized en masse like this meant only one thing:
War had come.
"Come on Riew, let's get down there. It should be starting soon." Riew growled in agreement, lifting his large white muzzle to blink at her. She couldn't help the laugh that escaped her.
"Yea, I know.I don't have to like it, but that doesn't mean I can be late." Riew snorted, angling his wings to begin a circling descent towards the teeming mass of dragons and their riders below.
She easily caught sight of her teammates- mostly due to the exuberant Cecelia waving from below. Looks like her hair was dyed a bright orange this week- last time Ariana had seen her it had been a bubblegum pink. Everything about the girl was energetic- from her animated chatter with her dragon, Blue (And odd name for a dragon that was in actuality green), to the way she stood with one hip propping up her helmet and her arm draped over the side of the emerald green metal.
Joel stood just off to the side- no doubt ignoring Cecelia as much as possible without outright ignoring her. He'd learned his lesson the last time he attempted to ignore her- although it was certainly amusing to watch Cecelia throw him face first into the dirt. His counterpart Ratheil, dull amber scales glinting in the afternoon sun, lay just beyond Blue's reach. It was funny how the two dragons had bonded, and Adriana didn't think she'd ever seen Ratheil quite as energetic as he had been when courting the green dragon.
"Right down there." I see them. No way to easily miss that head of hair. Adriana laughed at Riew again, legs tightening on his side as his wings angled down to her small squad. The three of them made a good team- when she could get everyone focused on the objective.
A difficult, and thankless feat.
Riews wings kicked up clouds of dust, a shudder running through his frame as he landed just in front of the two dragons and their riders. Adriana slid off of Riew- suit scraping against his side- and pulled her helmet off, taking up a position similar to Cecelia's. Combing her fingers through her dark red hair, Adriana jogged up to the two waiting riders.
"Any idea when the other three are coming?" even Joel would have easily heard the reluctance in Adriana's voice. It was no secret that she wasn't a fan of him.
"Nope. Nothin' yet captain. Why, you almost seem eager today~" Adriana shot Cecelia a dirty look, drawing a giggle from her enthusiastic teammate.
"Alright alright- hey, isn't that them there?" Adriana followed Cecelia's line of sight, lifting one gloved hand to shield her eyes from the sun- and spot three shadows approaching them. Distaste spread through her- the meeting hadn't even started, and she was already eager to have it done and over with.
