"Miss, step aside" Adam ordered, his face slipping into a frown.
He was in trouble, that much he could tell, but Rebecca didn't need to go down with him. Had she stayed on the changing room as he had instructed her ... But what was he expecting? Did she ever listen to whatever he told her? No. However, if he could somehow convince this ... officer that they were not related, which was such an obvious lie, she'd be able to get out of this with just a warning, or so he hoped.
Seeing her face stained with tears and her mortified expression, though, that made him falter. He felt some part of him panicking lightly. She was crying, crying because of him. He hesitated, his grip around Nick's arm loosing. The knight felt his protective nature kicking in, the only thing he had ever wanted was for her to be safe, but not unhappy. He was making a big mistake, but it didn't feel like that to him. That excuse of a man had to pay for what he had done, for what he did to her. How could she not see that?
For a moment, his determination seemed to ebb, his attention drawn to his lady, and that was enough of an opening for the black haired guy to wiggle his way out of his grasp and send his fist, though sore, flying to Adam's face. By reflex, the brown haired man dodged, and was able to catch his hand before he could pull it back. He heard Rebecca's voice, though he didn't make out what had she actually said, and, for a split of second, time seemed to come to a crawl. Adam thought it to be his imagination when someone's scream brought him back to reality. Pain wasn't the first thing he felt, instead he felt the warmness and stickiness of the warm blood that started to drip from his hand. His brow did so much as to rise. A small blade, when had he taken it out?
"Okay, that's enough." He heard the officer say, but he didn't really turn around to see him, though he felt him approaching them.
"Like I didn't do that with yours when you found me." Elisa didn't sound as lively when she said that. Intruding he said, he'd only make her miss a couple of classes, big deal, she had managed for him to be charged with treason, forced him to be on the run, got his father killed. For the first time in what felt like quite a while, her mood darkened upon having the ghost of what they had lived wrapping its hand around her heart. "Really, I can miss a day or two, Victor, it's no big deal, a friend of mine can fill me in later, ah!"
She couldn't help herself, she stirred a little on her seat, a shiver running down her spine, before it settled on her stomach and went down her body. God, and he was just kissing her arm. But it was not only that, his voice ... She shivered lightly, really, she had to pull herself together. What was wrong with her? Lately, her body seemed much more sensitive than usual. The usual her would have laughed at any guy who did such actions and said those words, but the thing was, it wasn't any guy. Damn.
"Victor..." She complained weakly, her eyes trailing to him.
A loud honk made her jump, and she quickly turned her gaze back to the front just in time to stop on a red light, her suv lightly ahead of the traffic light. Her heart hammered painfully inside her chest, her eyes wide open.
